Our plan included removing the wall separating the den from the foyer, as well as the wall separating the living room from the foyer. This opened up the central area of the home, allowing sweeping views of this wing from one end to the other.
With carpeting in the den and flagstone in the foyer removed, a new oak hardwood floor was installed and toothed into the original flooring in the dining room and all was sanded and finished for a fresh look. A new oak stairway to the second level replaces the damaged original, and new dim-able recessed lights and relocated pendant over the dining room table provides sophisticated ambiance.
Now the fireplace room is visually and socially connected to the rest of the first floor, with views stretching from the front yard to the pool in the back.
