Our clients' outdated 70's kitchen was admittedly overdue for a change. A ceramic tile countertop, poor working layout, little storage and a small window contributed to a dark and uninviting space to prepare meals. To extend the kitchen and create a more functional and connected space, we removed a wall separating the small dinette from the adjacent family room.
New Dura Supreme cabinetry in natural quarter-sawn red oak was chosen to add simple sophistication to this kitchen. Sweeping Amazon Star granite countertops, undercabinet lighting, and a metallic-glazed ceramic tile backsplash add lots of sparkle to this new workspace. Enhancing the feel is a larger triple-mulled casement window above the sink area, echoing the other triple casements on the north side of the home and replacing the small original unit in that location. Further depth is achieved with glass door upper cabinets with glass shelves and interior lighting.
