Where the new addition joins the original home, we opened up the kitchen along the back wall and created a short peninsula that doubles as a cozy breakfast bar. New Dura Supreme oak cabinetry closely matches the originals in the rest of the kitchen and a U-shaped solid-surface countertop ties the old and new together.
A new lighted china cabinet occupies the corner of the dining area, and the vaulted ceiling and large windows makes for a bright and cheerful space. Across from the dining area and kitchen is the relocated back entry where a new door and sidelight brighten a short hallway. A new closet and pantry are located here, and the basement stairwell is also accessed from this area. For durability, we installed ceramic tile in the back entry hall.
