Our clients wanted to expand the first floor of their well-kept Cape home to include a new dining room and family room. The compact kitchen along the back of the home would provide the access to the new space.
On the exterior, we designed an addition over a crawl-space with a pair of stepped gabled ends turned perpendicular to the original ridge of the home. New casement windows and a relocated rear entry complete the plan, and shingles and siding were installed to match the existing materials.
The existing single window in the second story dormer had to be relocated and resized to allow for the new roof plane, and the addition's overall size and shape compliment the original home.
