The addition features a set of salvaged French-style swinging doors separating the new family room from the dining room, a detail which preserves the original architecture of the 1930's home. The new room includes a bank of cabinetry along the south wall housing bookshelves on each end and a space for the flat-panel television in the center. Twin, built-in window seats flank this central cabinetry, and all have storage underneath.
The new energy efficient windows in this addition were customized to look like the original leaded windows throughout the home by using a lead tape application over the glass.
